Knee Cartilage injury : Mosaicplasty with OATS done at ASIC, Indore by Arthroscopy & Knee Reconstructive Surgeon

A Young Male presented to ASIC, Indore with complaints of Knee locking and occasinal knee pain on locking episodes, occasional knee pain on exertional activities for last 1 year

Patient gave history of Knee Injury ( twisting injury / snapping sound ) an year back, since then is suffering from above mentioned symptoms.

Patient had consulted previously to Orthopaedic surgeons for his knee symptoms but was not relieved of symptoms with conservative management

At Arthroscopy & Sports injury Centre, Indore he was clinically examined by Dr Tanmay Chaudhary, Arthroscopy & Sports Injuries Surgeon ( Knee & Shoulder Reconstructive Surgeon) & after MRI correlation was advised to undergo Knee Arthroscopy & Mosaicplasty + Loose Body removal.

Patient underwent Knee Arthroscopy : Findings: 2 cartilagenous loose bodies present, Cruciates intact, Menisci intact, Cartilage : Patella – intact, MFC- 18* 12mm Gr IV (ICRS) defect on weight bearing area & 18*16mm GrIV ICRS defect with overlying loose fragment along with Gr I changes over neighbouring MFC -WB area.

Knee Arthrotomy was done to expose the defects & Loose bodies removed.

Autologous Osteochondral transplant was done from Non-weight bearing LFC to over the defects forming a Mosaic along with 2 Microfracture drill into LFC non-weight bearing defect (Patello-femoral).

Patient stood the surgery well & Rehab was started as per the protocol.

MRI : OCD of MFC &LFC (Cartilage lesion)
Mosaicplasty (OATS) in Chondral lesion
